SWOTs analysis is a tool used to discover information about the direction that a club wishes to improve. SWOT stands for Strength, Weakness, Opportunities and Threats listing relevant issues that your team or club faces on a regular basis can help build a strategy to reach their goals. For example a SWOT for my local university rugby league team.
Strength: Strong volunteer support

Week 3: Organizational Structures

Organizational structures are the outline of how tasks are divided, grouped or coordinated within an organization, structures are important for the day to day running of a club or organisation, as referred to in Sports Management (2009) this reading also suggests six key factors to designing these structures.
1.       Work specialization
2.       Departmentalization
3.       Chain of command
4.       Span of control
5.       Centralization
6.       Formalization
Structures are forever changing hoping to achieve better results and outcomes for example the NRL has appointed a new leadership team to deal with some highly criticized refereeing structures that previously existed.

Week 2: Politics and Sport

Politics play a major role in the sport industry; politicians use the strong Australian sporting culture to relate with the wider community that they may not reach with standard campaigning. Politics surrounding sport can be an effective way for politicians to communicate to the public and gain support, it can also backfire. As much as Australians love sport, a lack of knowledge or understanding by a politician can have quite the opposite effect, as shown by The Victorian Sports Minister.

Week 1: Sports Management

Three sectors exist is Australian sport Government, Professional and Non-Profit, for the success of sport in the future all three must work together in achieve continued interest and participation in the sporting industry. Each sector relies on each other in different ways for alternate reasons, the government supplies funds for facilities, development and advertisement for example I found a government grant strategy that helps regional athletes with cost of travel, accommodation and equipment.
