Politics play a major role in the sport industry; politicians
use the strong Australian sporting culture to relate with the wider community
that they may not reach with standard campaigning. Politics surrounding sport
can be an effective way for politicians to communicate to the public and gain
support, it can also backfire. As much as Australians love sport, a lack of
knowledge or understanding by a politician can have quite the opposite effect,
as shown by The Victorian Sports Minister.
